This completion report provides documentation for the stabilization of Sand Island Light Station at Apostle Islands National Seashore (HS-06-142A, HS-06-142C), for the day labor work order. Stabilization work was started in May 1977 and completed in August 1977 under project supervisors Ray Kunkel and John Ochman. This report provides the cost of the stabilization work, a narrative description of the work, and copies of photographs. The work done at this time included exterior stabilization of the lighthouse, light tower, and privy. Deteriorated window frames and sashes were replaced, exterior trim was painted, and the tower and keeper's house were tuckpointed. The work also involved improving water drainage along structures, constructing temporary shutters, and general site work.
