This is a draft summary of the literature addressing climate and climate change impacts in the southern Appalachian mountains, especially as relate to Great Smoky Mountains National Park (TN and NC) and the Blue Ridge Parkway (NC and VA). This document is a synthesized version of a more detailed condition assessment (IRMA record #2251971) that was created in partnership with the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station, Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center and North Carolina State University. As that document is periodically updated, so too will this document be updated.
