In 2017, we developed an efficient protocol for sampling the diversity of native bees. The “snap shot” method was compared to an inventory performed in 2016. In 2016 we captured 21 genera. In 2017 we captured 23 genera, including six not captured in 2016, with only 6.2% of the trap-hours used in 2016. Shannon diversity for genera is 2.21 for 2016, and 2.24 for 2017. This new method is therefore the preferred protocol for sampling in the future.
