Monitoring Myotis velifer Roosts in Arizona

Wolf SA. Monitoring Myotis velifer Roosts in Arizona. Research Permit and Reporting System

We video-recorded cave myotis evening exits at a mine in SAGU with a summer bachelor colony; the highest number of bats observed was 1,416 on 30 July, 2017. We recorded the acoustic activity of bats in another SAGU mine using a bat detector. Bats, presumably cave myotis, were already present when the detector was deployed August 16, 2017. Acoustic activity peaked at the end of September and then declined suddenly to almost nothing in mid-September. This is typical of migrating cave myotis.
