Pinyon-juniper forests and cliff-face crevices of Colorado’s West Slope support the highest diversity of bat species in the state and compose the major habitat type found in Colorado National Monument and the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area. Urbanization, drought, and high intensity fires may affect bat species using this area. Mist netting, acoustic sampling, and radiotelemetry were used to survey summer populations of bats inhabiting the area. Results are presented and discussed.
