Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) are known vectors of human diseases and nuisance pests that can negatively impact on human health and well-being. There are no native mosquitoes in Hawaii and many of the species present are competent vectors of disease. Yet, little is known about the distribution of mosquitoes within Hawai'i, particularly on the less populated island such as Maui.
