This report is intended to assess the overall long- and short-range capabilities of the roof's support system in the central block of the Arlington House, describe problems which might affect its performance, and propose an approach to correct these shortcomings to ensure a sound structure that is capable of protecting this resource. This is based on findings culminating from both a visual investigation of the various structural elements and an analysis of the design. In summation, the report finds that the existing trusses are lacking in any real engineering design, resulting in an ill-defined support system. It presents recommendations to improve the stability and safety of Arlington House. Drawings, photographs, and cost estimates are included.
