The Historic Structures Report (HSR), Part I for the Hot Springs Complex includes administrative, historical, architectural, archeological, and landscape data. The Historic Resource Management Plan classed these buildings as a primary site, and rehabilitation work is required to preserve them for future interpretation. This included roof repairs or replacement, repair of exterior mortar joints, and plaster on interior walls. The structures assist in interpretation of the period of early tourism within the park and help tell the story of many of the individuals that inhabited the Big Bend Country during that time. The proposed use is that the Hot Spring Cabins and the Store and Post Office building would be retained as in-place exhibits, and the Residence and Shed would be considered expendable and left as ruins. The HSR notes the proposed construction activity, cost estimate, and notes on site operation for its interpretation. A brief description of the structural and architectural design of each structure in the complex is included. Attached photos and a project construction proposal provide further documentation.
