This section of the Historic Structure Report proposes the reconstruction of Fort Vancouver, including the stockade, important buildings, and setting. The purpose of this project was to help visitors visualize the size and form of Fort Vancouver as it appeared in 1865 prior to destruction by fire. The report includes a copy of the Project Construction Proposal for the fort reconstruction. The document includes an overview of the fort's history and features. Fort Vancouver was founded here in the winter of 1824-25 by the Hudson's Bay Company; it moved to the site on the lower plateau in 1829. It continued in operation until it was vacated in 1860. Cost estimates, photographs, and a site plan are included.
