Appalachian Trail Visitor Impact Assessments to Enhance Sustainability and Improve Visitor Experiences.

Marion J. 2018. Appalachian Trail Visitor Impact Assessments to Enhance Sustainability and Improve Visitor Experiences.

We will visit two 5k segments within GRSM as part of a larger research study on the Appalachian Trail to take an array of measurements on the condition of the A.T. tread and to map informal (visitor-created) trails, and assess all recreation sites (shelters, campsites, day-use sites). Our field crew has three staff and this work can be conducted in approximately 3 days. All measurements are non-destructive. No biological materials are sampled or collected.
