Varicellaria lactea is reported new to the U.S.A. from Katmai National Park and Preserve and Lake Clark National Park, both in Alaska. It was found on slightly overhanging rock walls on lake shores. The specimens agree well morphologically and chemically with material from Scandinavia (Norway) used for comparison
