The long-term five-hectare, forest monitoring plot at Barataria Preserve, established in 1998, was resampled in 2015. All trees previously tagged were revisited, assessed for survival, and if alive, measured (diameter at breast height - DBH). New recruits were identified, tagged and mapped. As with previous surveys, community composition of woody species was highly correlated with relative elevation; less flood-tolerant species dominated the natural levee forest of Bayou des Familles, whereas species more tolerant of flooding became increasingly dominant toward the backswamp area.
