Estimating demographic response of Bartram's scrub-hairstreak to fire in Everglades National Park
Henry EH. Estimating demographic response of Bartram's scrub-hairstreak to fire in Everglades National Park. Research Permit and Reporting System
We estimated Bartram’s scrub-hairstreak egg and larval survival rates in recently burned and long unburned pine rockland blocks. Egg survival did not differ among the different fire treatments, but larval survival did. Larval survival was highest in unburned block and lowest in prescribed fire block, with wildfire falling between the two. With just one year of data it is difficult to tease apart spatial vs. management effects on survival. We propose further monitoring of these populations.
