Student project for GEOG 470: Spatial Analyses of Wildlife Habitats. CONCLUSION: The analyses utilized in this research show that elk births have a spatial shift in a southwestern direction and majority of successful births have a closer proximity to roads than unsuccessful births. While these findings may provide decision support and context to elk birth behavior and birth-site selection, the data used in this research was biased in its collection procedure. If additional elk data and ancillary data were available, further findings and insights regarding elk behavior and birth-site selection could be determined.
