The Lake Communities and Ecosystems vital sign is one of 19 vital signs monitored by the National Park Service’s (NPS) Arctic Inventory and Monitoring Network (ARCN). In accordance with guidelines set forth by the NPS Inventory and Monitoring Division, this report summarizes data quality standards associated with the monitoring of lake water quality in ARCN parks. This report documents the standards, policies, and procedures for activities related to the collection, processing, storage, analysis, and publication of monitoring data. Components of the report include monitoring activities, sampling design, data quality objectives, and change detection over space and time. The policies described here are consistent with and compliment data quality standards for water quality monitoring across the NPS Inventory and Monitoring Division.
