Origins and impacts of a highly invasive species in the southwestern US. Research Permit and Reporting System
The invasive Sahara mustard is increasing its impacts on federal managed lands across the western United States. Native species are being displaced as a result. We collected plant tissue samples from Sahara mustard individuals in 6 national parks and monuments, extracted DNA, and sequenced part of their genomes for analyses. Still in the early stages of analyses, we are working to determine the introduction points and invasion pathways of this damaging species.
