Use Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) surveys along the crests of several reversing sand dunes at the southern margin of the main dune field at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve (GSDNPP). DGPS data provide locations with ~2 cm horizontal and ~4 cm vertical precision, which are referenced to non-movable features at the dunes parking lot for consistency between surveys. This research will provide precise documentation of the movement of several dune crests in 3-D.
