This project was initiated through a Natural Resources Preservation Program (NRPP) proposal, and was a collaboration between USGS, NPS and NatureServe. A need was identified to develop a mechanism to crosswalk the U.S. National Vegetation Classification System (NVCS) mapping for parks in the Great Lakes Network to the revised, 2015 version, as there has been significant changes throughout the hierarchical classification.
