Protocol implementation plan for benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring in the Mid-Atlantic Network.
Dammeyer NT. 2018. Protocol implementation plan for benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring in the Mid-Atlantic Network.. Natural Resource Report. NPS/MIDN/NRR—2018/1740. National Park Service. Fort Collins, Colorado
This Protocol Implementation Plan (PIP) outlines the means by which monitoring data are collected, managed, and reported for the benthic macroinvertebrate (BMI) “Vital Sign” in the Mid-Atlantic Inventory and Monitoring Network (MIDN). MIDN has selected three state-published protocols to implement in order to meet the objectives of this PIP: (1) Pennsylvania Wadeable Riffle-Run Stream Macroinvertebrate Data Collection Protocol, (2) Virginia Stream Condition Index for Non-Coastal Streams, and (3) Virginia Coastal Plain Macroinvertebrate Index. Each protocol will be implemented at parks within the appropriate ecoregion to maximize comparability with reference and impaired conditions established by the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia. Additionally this document describes deviations from the source protocols.
