After completion of field work for a survey effort and acceptance of the SO_C georeferenced photo deliverable, the photos are “read” for presence of sea otters, times, locations, and covariates as per SOP 8. This produces CSV data files, typically one for each survey type. All CSVs for a survey effort are zipped into a package and the resulting SO_D is submitted to formal quality control. Once validation is passed and the deliverable is accepted, it is disseminated through repositories. The final product is then used as a basis for the statistical analysis that results in population estimates.
