Summary of proposed field methods and activities: The survey will be conducted using skin diving gear and view scopes. Each survey reach will be examined until it is felt that all mussel species occurring in the reach have been documented. The amount of time spent in each reach will be recorded to obtain catch/unit effort. The survey will be led by Gerald Dinkins, who has a scientific collecting permit issued by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and a federal permit to handle threatened and endangered species issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
