Valley Forge
Kennedy JS. 1921. To: Jones RL. Re: Valley Forge
We have made an interesting discovery in grading the upper meadow. We find an old stone wall about two feet thick and remains of an old floor built of hewed chestnut logs, also some lumps of partly reduced iron ore, "loups" and charcoal dust. Also broken pieces of soap stone evidently need in a furnace hearth. This wall is just where traditional says the second forge was built and we have been looking for it and now have found it.
