Intro - Across the Schuylkill River, directly north of the Valley Forge encampment site, lies and extremely fertile point of land once referred to as the "Fat land of the Egypt District". This region is bounded on three sides by the Schuylkill and Perkiomin Rivers whose alluvial deposits created rich bottomland that once supported many acres of farm and grazing land. This area contained the historic plantations of Mill Grover, Walnut Hill, and the Fatlands.
