There came with William Penn on board the "Welcome" in 1682, a fellow Englishman name Isaac Walker, to whom was later granted a considerable tract of land 22 miles north of Philadelphia, bordering on Valley Creek. The intention of Penn was to have his Province divided up into large estates of 2000 acres or more each, and, after the old English custom, these were termed "Manors".
