ABSTRACT: The present study outlines a methodolgy to describe the anthropogenic impact on an Alpine forest via atmospheric deposition. The problem is splitted up into three different model approaches. The first package calculates the long term deposition from the atmosphere. Inlcuded are the dry deposition of gases (O3, NC2, HNO3, HNC2, NH3 and S02). the dry deposition of aerosols (NH4+, NO3- , SO4--, H+ and BC (base cations)), the wet deposition of the same ions via precipitation and occult deposition of the same ions via cloud water immersion or fog. The second module describes the processes in the soil and the interaction with the plant. The third part models the impact on a plant physiological level by the use of the tree growth model TREGRO. The methodology presented in this study reveals a promising tool in the context of assessing the impact of anthropogenic pollutions emitted into the atmsophere on Alpine ecosystems.
