ABSTRACT: This article considers population dynamics modeling as an important tool for the development of efficient conservation management strategies for rare and declining bird species. The author presents the original model of annual population fecundity. Besides traditionally used parameters, the model includes several probabilistic variables affecting the resulting population growth rates. Case-study of the North American species, Seiurus aurocapilla L., elucidates a spectrum of methods applicable for empirical parameterization of the proposed annual fecundity model.
