This summary of ruins stabilization was prepared in conjunction with a particular stabilization project in Compound A, evaluating records to identify work that had been done before. This attempts to create as complete an outline as possible of stabilization work at the monument, using records at Casa Grande National Monument and the Southwestern National Monuments headquarters. A short account of stabilization work supervised by the author between 1940 and 1943 is included. Ruins stabilization has been carried on over a long period of time at Casa Grande National Monument, many methods have been tried, and records of this work are incomplete. The author describes the history of ruins stabilization in this park through four periods: - The early work (1889-1907) - The cement capping period (1907-1932) - Experiments with resins and other waterproofing compounds (1931-1935) - Back to cement (1935-1943) Each of these periods is described in greater detail.
