The Source Provenance of an Obsidian Blade from Otowi (LA 169). Research Permit and Reporting System

An obsidian blade artifact from Otowi (LA 169) in northern New Mexico was analyzed using non-destructive energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometry. The trace elemental fingerprint of the artifact matches compositionally with obsidian from the Pachuca obsidian source in Hidalgo, Mexico which is approximately 1000 miles to the south.
