Appalachian National Scenic Trail (APPA) Plot Based Forest Health Monitoring Protocol.
This protocol was initially developed to support the Forest Health component of a decision support system (DSS) enhancement project1 funded by the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA). Recognizing the potential for forest health monitoring separate from the DSS project, this protocol was developed to promote monitoring of forest vegetation as well as monitoring of a host of related issues including landscape fragmentation and land use change in close proximity to the Appalachian National Scenic Trail (APPA).
