Great Smoky Mountains National Park Continuous Water Temperature Data. NPS - WRD
These data represent temperature readings taken once per hour during the lifespan of the HOBO temperature logger while deployed in waterways of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Assuming temperature loggers aren’t lost due to flood events which may damage attachment points, the loggers collect data once per hour. These data are offloaded and then plotted using HOBOWARE for temperature trends. The data are also kept in an EXCEL file displaying the hourly temperature. The data being described here represent three locations with the West Prong Little Pigeon River (one in Great Smoky Mountains National Park Proper, and two in the Gatlinburg Spur Corridor of the West Prong Little Pigeon); one location on the Middle Prong Little Pigeon River, locally referred to as ‘Greenbrier,’ less than 300-meters upstream of the GRSM Park Boundary; one at the Hazel Creek Trail Bridge adjacent to the Calhoun Place for Hazel Creek; Deep Creek approximately 155-meters upstream of the Indian Creek confluence beneath the Deep Creek Trail Bridge; and a sampling location 100-meters upstream of the Rabbit Creek Trail crossing of Abrams Creek.
