This list represents the most current attempt to produce an accurate flora of Mammoth Cave National Park. This list has been painstakingly compiled from all existing sources including historical efforts, Seymour, and NatureServe. Taxonomy and nomenclature will largely follow Jones’ “Plant Life of Kentucky”. Differences in current nomenclature will be indicated within the floristic list. These suggest differences in opinion or lack of updated (accepted) changes in Jones’ manual. Currently, the Park’s flora includes 1143 taxa representing 1123 species, 5 subspecies, 14 varieties, and 1 hybrid. A list at the end of this document represents those species that have been or suspected to be reported in error.
