Collection of ozone symptomatic leaves of common milkweed in the Big Meadows area of SHEN. Research Permit and Reporting System
With the cooperation of the SHEN Air Quality Specialist and Resource Office leaf collections were made on September 8 at the Route 33 entrance area and then again at the Big Meadows Visitor Center on September 11th. Leaves at both sites were highly symptomatic of ozone-induced injury due to the several episodes of ozone exposures with several exchanges of drying sheets for the next several weeks and are ready for sharing within NASA sponsored biogarden sites in 2019 and beyond.
