Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 2: Data collection for the Denali Vehicle Management Plan Monitoring Protocol v.1.0
Clark WC and Bracher TA. 2018. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 2: Data collection for the Denali Vehicle Management Plan Monitoring Protocol v.1.0. Denali National Park and Preserve Road Ecology Program
SOP 2 – Data Collection covers techniques and equipment used and all aspects of data collection for monitoring seven indicators established in the Vehicle Management Plan (VMP). Road Ecology Program (REP) staff collects data using several protocols: Ride Observe and Record (ROAR) from a concessionaire bus, NPS Observations (NPSO) from a government vehicle, and six International Road Dynamics Inc. Traffic Recording System traffic counters along the Denali Park Road. During the road regulatory year (RRY), ROAR occurs nearly every day and NPSO occurs once or twice weekly. Data are also collected daily by concessionaire bus drivers and dispatch and by Interpretation staff at the Savage Check Station (SCS).
