Preliminary studies have been conducted in the field measuring gall diameter and abundance on the two host plants of the gall midge. Additionally, approximately 50 galls have been collected from sea oxeye daisy at the field site; from these galls, midges have been reared for use in the olfactometry tests to determine if the gall midge shows preferences for natal vs. novel host plants which may restrict gene flow between host-associated populations of the midge.
