Supraglacial deposition of large rock avalanches as a source of nutrients for glacial and extra-glacial ecosystems

Smith W. Supraglacial deposition of large rock avalanches as a source of nutrients for glacial and extra-glacial ecosystems. Research Permit and Reporting System

Our project is investigating the effect of supraglacially deposited rock avalanches on glacial biogeochemistry. The large amount of these events in Glacier Bay National Park made it the ideal place to study these events. We attempted to collect samples from at least two large deposits in the park in summer 2018, but unfortunately only one deposit was sampled due to snowpack conditions. Analysis has not currently been undertaken on samples, but will commence in 2019.
