Further testing of a lidar system for flying insect surveys
Tauc MJ, Fristrup KM, Shaw JA. Further testing of a lidar system for flying insect surveys. Research Permit and Reporting System
This entomological lidar system detects insect targets at ranges up to 125 meters and returns measurements such as level of reflected light, variation in reflected light level, and wingbeat frequency. During this field campaign, we monitored insect responses over the course of the entire day and in the dawn and dusk times. We also monitored insects' spatial and temporal response to light. These data have not yet been analyzed because we are developing a machine learning algorithm to sort data.
