The following standard operation procedure (SOP) outlines the steps required to obtain GPS (global positioning system) solutions using the web-based processing platforms OPUS (Online Position User Service) and OPUS Projects (OP). Mission planning (see protocol specific methods for instructions) and the theoretical basis for GPS base station surveying are not covered in this SOP. It is expected that the user knows how to download raw GPS data from the receiver. If OP is being used, the user or the project lead needs to have completed OP training (which enables creation and use of an OP Project). A standardized way to assess the quality of CORS stations as well as OPUS and OP solutions is provided. This SOP describes the steps needed to process data collected by Trimble R10 GPS receivers. Detailed care and maintenance of GPS receivers is not covered.
