This report has been assembled to assist the interpretive staff of Independence National Historical Park in relating facts about the overall landscape and individual trees to the historical theme of the park. Tree species, currently in Independence Square, were selected to illustrate aspects of the park's natural, social and economic history. Wherever possible, information linking a tree species with a historically significant person or structure has been included.
