Diong er a Dokou brochure

Brochure describing the historic site Diong er a Dokou in Ngerdilong Traditional Village, Kayangel (Ngedebuul), Palau. This brochure commemorates the historic site's restoration in 2018. From the brochure: "Site Name: Diong er a Dokou Site No.: B:NH-1:2 F9 Site Type: Bathing Pool Site Location: Ngerdilong Traditional Village State: Kayangel (Ngedebuul) Diong er a Dokou is a large bathing pool for the traditional chiefs of Ngerbesang located in Ngerdilong, one of the four regions of Kayangel. The paving is stacked of large coral slabs and in good condition, including steps going down into the pool at the northeast corner. At the north side of the pool is an elevated platform probably an iliud along the stone path. Surrounding the pool is a taro patch that is being maintained. According to the informants, several coral rocks from the east side were removed in 1979 to construct the concrete meeting house at Bai er a Ngerbesang. Traditionally, Kayangel had four regions; they are Oreong, Ngerdilong, Ngerdimes, and Ngedebuul. Oreong’s bai is Meduu el Bai and its bathing pool is Diong er a Orukei. Ngerdilong, another region, is known today to the people of Kayangel as Dilong, and its bai is Bai er a Ngerbesang and its bathing pool is Diong er a Dokou. Ngerdimes the third region bai is called Bai er a Ngerurou and its bathing pool is Diong er a Olekang. The fourth region is Ngedebuul and its bai is simply called Bai er a Ngedebuul and its bathing pool is called Diong er a Besungel."
