The purpose of the project was to study diamondback terrapin interactions with commercial blue crab traps with the objectives of removing derelict crab traps, assess terrapin populations, and make management recomondations based on project findings. These objectives were accomplished in full for the study area in Davis Bayou. The work was completed by The Nature Conservancy’s Mississippi Marine Program and this full report has been submitted by Tom Mohrman detailing major findings which include occurrence of derelict crab traps, findings on the Davis Bayou terrapin population, and management recommendations.
