This Historic Structure Assessment Report for the Slave Quarter/Tenant Houses at Magnolia Plantation is part of the Inventory and Condition Assessment Program (ICAP) carried out at the park level to assist the maintenance manager in planning, organizing, and directing maintenance operations. Based on comprehensive field inspection and evaluation, this assessment includes photos, drawings, and information about the structure as provided for ICAP. Supplemental information includes the National Register nomination for Magnolia Plantation. The general store is a one-story wood frame structure with a gable roof and front and rear porches. The front space was used as retail area, and the rear room was an office space. The report notes the existing conditions, developments and modifications to the structure since its construction, and recommendations. The store that existed at the time of this report was a combination of the original store, which had a probable construction date of 1873, and additions on the north and south.
