Glacier National Park - FFI - Fire Effects Monitoring Data

National Park Service and McClellan M. 2019. Glacier National Park - FFI - Fire Effects Monitoring Data

Fire effects monitoring data collected in Glacier National Park which is located in the mixed conifer forests of the Northern Rockies of Montana. The data were collected during the summer and fall field seasons by the Glacier fire effects monitoring crew from 1995 - 2018. Data collected from herbaceous transects are 30 meter point intercept data to obtain relative and percent cover. Photographs are taken from each end of the transect to document change and in addition from each corner of the forest plot. Data collected from 50 x 20 m forest plots include tree inventory (overstory, pole and seedling) to obtain density and basal area, and fuel load estimates using Fischer's Photo Series. Overstory trees are mapped in GIS.
