State Species Assessment of Frosted Elfin

Jue DK. State Species Assessment of Frosted Elfin. Research Permit and Reporting System

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proactively assessing the nationwide status of the frosted elfin (Callophrys irus), a butterfly, to determine whether or not the species may warrant federal protection under the Endangered Species Act. The Big Thicket National Preserve is located within this species known range and surveys were conducted there to determine the current status of the frosted elfin on that government property.
