This standard operating procedure (SOP) provides instruction for a few common operations associated with the Garmin 62s global positioning system (GPS) unit. The operational guide provides functional knowledge of initial set up of the Garmin unit, how to upload waypoints to the GPS unit, download new waypoints to a computer, find or add a waypoint, collect and average a waypoint, and create tracking and routing. The information in this SOP will be useful for locating and storing field data.
