Respondents were asked to select the three reasons why they chose ( and perhaps continue to choose) to visit the GCPNM. The most popular reason was seek solitude and natural quiet (14%), followed by enjoy scenery (12%), and escape from the urban environment (10%). The four least popular reasons were travel with an outdoor group (3%) and explore artistic expression (3%), develop outdoor skills (2%), and practice primitive living skills (<1%). Visitors to GCPNM were asked to rate the availability of selected services within the Monument. Most respondents said that directional signs (39%), brochures and maps (36%), and interpretive signs (31%) were good (Figure 3). When asked to rate the quality of selected services in GCPNM, responses were similar. Respondents found the quality of directional signs ( 41 % ), brochures and maps (38%), and interpretive signs (34%) to be good. Respondents, however, did not know about the quality of the internet website (65%), cultural resource protection (37%), natural resource protection (33%), and safety information (33%) (Figure 4).
