2016 Gateway National Recreation Area BioBlitz Results

Rafferty P. 2016 Gateway National Recreation Area BioBlitz Results

The 2016 BioBlitzes were inventory events spanning 2 days (June 10th and 11th at Jamaica Bay and September 23th and 24th at Sandy Hook) where volunteers and experts sought out and identified as many species within the Jamaica Bay unit and Sandy Hook unit as they could. Experts led citizens into the field to observe species of their specialty and teach them collection and identification methods. NYC parks and recreation also participated by holding a concurring event at their facilities surrounding Jamaica Bay. Data was uploaded to iNaturalist using phones, or it was recorded on paper datasheets and entered by a park service staff member.
