This Resource Brief summarizes Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve's humpback whale monitoring program in Glacier Bay and Icy Strait, Alaska in 2018, our 34th consecutive year of consistent data collection. Each summer since 1985, Park biologists have conducted vessel-based photo ID surveys to document the number of individual humpback whales, as well as their residence times, spatial and temporal distribution, reproductive parameters, and feeding behavior.
