This report documents continued fishery-independent monitoring activities during summer 2018 in the Dry Tortugas region. Data from these surveys, conducted since 1999, have been instrumental in the design and implementation of large marine protected areas (MPAs) in Tortugas Bank (Tortugas North Ecology Reserve) and DRTO (Research Natural Area), and for subsequent evaluations clearly demonstrating the positive effects of the Tortugas MPAs on principal exploited reef fish species.
