ABSTRACT: Large collections made throughout North Carolina during the past several years have shed significant light on various aspects of the biology of the State's crayfish fauna, including many species that have a conservation status of Special Concern or are on the Watch List. New information on distribution, taxonomy, life history, and habitat is provided for Cambarus (C.) lenati, C. (D.) latimanus, C. (D.) reduncus, C. (J.) dubius, C. (P.) georgiae, C. (P.) reburrus, C. (P.) spicatus, Orconectes (C.) virginiensis, O. (P.) carolinensis, O. (P.) cristavarius, O. (P.) rusticus, Procambarus (O.) acutus, P. (O.) braswelli, and P. (O.) pearsei. North Carolina's crayfish fauna now consists of 37 indigenous and three introduced species, and additional indigenous species are being described.
