Inventory pollinators in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve with a special focus on the subgenus Alpinobombus and the newly described bumble bee, Bombus kluanensis

Rykken J. Inventory pollinators in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve with a special focus on the subgenus Alpinobombus and the newly described bumble bee, Bombus kluanensis. Research Permit and Reporting System

The primary objective of our survey was to search for the newly described bumble bee, Bombus kluanensis, in alpine tundra habitats of Wrangell-St. Elias, and to document floral associations. We also conducted a more general survey of other bumble bee species associated with tundra habitats in the park. We collected over five days (July 9-15) in six different locations above the Nabesna Road. We captured 196 bumble bees, comprising 10 species, but we did not find Bombus kluanensis.
